Workout

Warm-up

5 min
  • 5-minute easy walk, then a few slow step-ups without the ruck to warm up your knees and hips.

For Time

  • 1,000 Ruck Step-ups, solo, with a partner, or as a team.
  • Break the reps up however you need to, just keep moving.
  • Complete as fast as possible.

Scaling Options

  • Slick: no rucksack, pick your own step-up height.
  • Standard: 20/30 lb rucksack, pick your own step-up height.
  • Expert: 45 lb rucksack, 20-inch box.

Cool Down

5 min
  • Walk it out for a few minutes and stretch your calves, quads, and hips.

Movement Breakdown

Ruck Step-ups

  • Find a sturdy box or bench roughly knee height.
  • Step up fully, driving through the heel of your lead foot, ruck secured on your back.
  • Stand tall at the top before stepping back down under control.
  • Alternate legs each rep.
